Proper aftercare is essential to healing and preserving the quality of your tattoo or piercing. Following these guidelines will help reduce irritation, prevent infection, and ensure the best long-term results.

Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
First 24 Hours

Remove the bandage within 1 to 2 hours

Wash the tattoo gently with antibacterial soap and lukewarm water

Pat dry with a clean paper towel

Apply a light layer of ointment such as A&D
Days 1 to 3

Wash the tattoo twice daily

Apply a light amount of ointment after each wash

Do not re-bandage the tattoo
Day 4 and Beyond

Switch from ointment to a moisturizing lotion

Apply a thin layer 2 to 3 times per day

Continue moisturizing for up to 3 weeks

Avoid trauma, friction, or excessive movement
Important Tattoo Care Tips

Avoid sun exposure and soaking underwater for 3 weeks

Do not pick or scratch scabs

Allow flaking to fall off naturally

Once healed, use lotion and sunblock to protect your tattoo
Piercing Aftercare Instructions
General Care

Wash your hands before touching your piercing

Clean with saline solution as needed

Gently pat dry with clean, disposable paper products

Do not rotate or move the jewelry unnecessarily
What to Expect

Initial swelling, tenderness, or light bleeding

Temporary itching or discoloration

Whitish-yellow discharge that may form crust on jewelry (this is normal)
Healing & Long-Term Care

Keep jewelry in place during healing

Do not force jewelry if it feels tight

Continue cleaning even if the piercing feels healed

Healed piercings can shrink or close quickly if jewelry is removed


What to Avoid

Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, iodine, or harsh cleaners

Antibacterial soaps or ointments on piercings

Over-cleaning, which can delay healing

Pools, hot tubs, lakes, and other unclean water

Trauma from clothing, rough movement, or sleeping pressure

Apply a light amount of ointment after each wash

Oral contact or exposure to bodily fluids during healing

Bactine or products containing Benzalkonium Chloride (BZK)
